Charles Hallard conceived a lightweight protocol for his ULP Nodes called ULPNode RF Protocol.

The RF protocol is based on the excellent RadioHead software stack.

The RF protocol definition is quite simple and dynamic, these mean that a Node (identified by a Node ID) can send any number of sensors data in the frame to a gateway (identified by a gateway ID). We could extend also the Network ID to separate different networks but for now it’s fixed by ULPNode RadioHead driver library.

Recently, we learned from Full Arduino Mini LoraWAN below 1uA Sleep Mode - End Devices (Nodes) - The Things Network, that the ULPNode RF Protocol might even be compatible to the Integration des Cayenne Low Power Payload Protocol.

Changed ULPNode RF Protocol so conform Cayenne LPP, strange it’s mostly the same I created (see section payload sensor data), looks like the idea was not too bad.
