Annapurna firmware images for Pycom/ESP32

Introduction

Building upon our Squirrel builds, we are also building self-contained firmware images for Pycom devices containing all of the Terkin-Datalogger modules frozen into the firmware.

The most recent firmware images can be downloaded from Releases · hiveeyes/terkin-datalogger · GitHub. The current builds are:

• GPy-1.20.2.rc6-0.10.0-annapurna.tar.gz
• LoPy4-1.20.2.rc6-0.10.0-annapurna.tar.gz
• FiPy-1.20.2.rc6-0.10.0-annapurna.tar.gz

Installation

1. For uploading the firmware to the device, please follow the Squirrel installation instructions.

2. Add the settings file by using e.g. settings.example.py and uploading it as /flash/settings.py.

While we obviously had to touch some bytes in settings.py in order to configure the WiFi access point and the telemetry channel, flashing & getting things running was quite flawless with your release and notes on it!

We would like to encourage all people from the community to try out the Annapurna builds on their Pycom devices.

In contrast to that running it without any sensors attached, @roh, @wtf and @weef just asked for a minimum-effort way of invoking the BOB Datalogger hardware without having to provision the Python files by hand, so we provided a recent Annapurna Release ^[1] from the current development head of the Terkin Datalogger, in turn based on Pycom’s improved 1.20.1.r1-0.6.0-dragonfly.

As far as we heard back from them, it worked out of the box without any issues and glitches. Thanks a bunch!

We just had to touch some bytes in settings.py in order to define a station id and the target server. Besides that, flashing the firmware image and getting things running was quite flawless with your release and notes on it!
