Nice!

I mainly use the nau7802 break-out-board from adafruit with a QWIIC interface, that enables to use whatever MCU board is wanted (in my case a nRF9151 feather, a LTE-M/NB-IoT modem).

The adafruit board has for my usage mainly two downs:

  • power led (no, I want to run from battery and I don’t want to waste my energy. I remove that in the meantime from the board.)
  • only 1 4-wire plug. Though I use the “double load-cell” design, I would prefer to have have 2 5-wire plugs (both just parallel)

I’m not sure, if your board is intended to run from battery and has something as a “power LED”. If so, let me recommend to use a “solder jumper” to easily disable it.

And if there is enough “space”, I would consider the solder pads for a second 5-wire plug, to add it, when two load-cells are used.

Nice. What library are you using? I have a similar setup, but the scale/library stops responding after several days and only sends back an error code.

OT: Same here! I reported this to Adafruit (I didn’t have the LED in mind at the time because only a graphic of the PCB had been published), and Lady Ada herself replied: Suggestions to the load cell connectors at the PCB preview · Issue #1 · adafruit/Adafruit_NAU7802 · GitHub . It was issue #1 on the Adafruit_NAU7802 GitHub page! But nothing has changed since then.

I opened a ticket in the forum (2024) about the power LED

QWIIC board and power LEDs

and in the meantime, quite a lot are requesting that. We will see.

I planned a QWIIC NAU7802 + BQ25186 board … but I wasn’t able to spend time into it for now. We will see.
