Petrache Valentin posted an overview for a nice Arduino MKR1000 based bee monitoring system with additional LCD display on hachster.io:

I fear the 1000 mAh lipo can not power the system so long but it is a nice blueprint how to include an LCD display. To save power a button is implemented to switch backlight on the LCD on. Perhaps it can be optimized with some sleep code …

For demonstration purpose I have added a LCD also. It’s an I2C display and has switchable back light. Code is not for production use yet. And min / max data on display is fake data.
